i-nfer plan and assessment for learning
i-nfer has incorporated many of the features of Assessment for Learning (AfL) into the challenges. These include:
- The welcome screen names the topic and describes the e-assessment as a ‘challenge’.
- The introduction screen engages the children in the purpose of the challenge, by explaining: ‘These questions are to help your teacher to find out more about your … work.’
- Some of the questions have hints or feedback in response to partially correct, or incorrect, first answers.
- There are introductory and final questions asking about children’s interest and enjoyment in the work. The children should give their own opinions here, as there are no ‘right answers’. These questions help children to continue to feel involved, and they may also contribute to the analysis.
- After the challenges are complete, a ‘child-speak’ report is available, if the teacher chooses, which can be shared with children and contribute to feedback and target setting.
